KONAMI announced at the Electronic Entertainment Expo 2009 (E3) ^*1 that it will launch new titles of the METAL GEAR Series, which are METAL GEAR SOLID: PEACE WALKER, METAL GEAR SOLID: RISING and the series first arcade title.

METAL GEAR SOLID: PEACE WALKER for PlayStation® Portable is scheduled to launch in 2010 in North America. The story is set in 1970's during the Cold War. Naked Snake stars in this title as a main character. Kojima, who is the director of the METAL GEAR Series, created the game design and script. This game utilizes the characteristics of the portable game format to deliver enhanced user enjoyment.

METAL GEAR SOLID: RISING is a multi-platform title that will be released for PLAYSTATION® 3, Xbox 360® as well as PCs in North America. The game features the main character, Raiden, one of the most popular figures in the series.

Rounding off the list of new titles is the METAL GEAR arcade game. The new title will be linked to the e-AMUSEMENT system that enables multiple players to head into battle together online and is scheduled to start operating in 2009 throughout arcades in Japan.

METAL GEAR Series is game software that includes an anti-war and anti-nuclear message. This series has sold over 27 million copies^*2 and one of its series released worldwide last June, METAL GEAR SOLID 4: GUNS OF THE PATRIOTS, has received many awards, both in Japan and abroad.
