Konami Digital Entertainment Co., Ltd. will be holding the Yu-Gi-Oh! WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP 2012 on Saturday, August 11th and Sunday, August 12th.
Held every year since 2003, the Yu-Gi-Oh! WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP is a tournament for the Yu-Gi-Oh! Card Game*1 that reaches out to and brings together competitors from all over the world.
For its tenth year anniversary, the tournament will be held in Tokyo Midtown, where Konami’s headquarters are located. Skilled duelists (card game players) from all over the world?including North and South America, Europe, Asia, and Oceania?have won in qualifying tournaments in order to earn a spot at this competition to determine the best in the world. The tournament will also feature a new junior division*2 to determine the world’s best junior duelist. The tournament is also slated to be broadcasted live over the internet.

In addition to being the best-selling trading card game in the world*3, the Yu-Gi-Oh! series has also expanded into console and online video games. Launched in early June on Facebook, the social media content "Yu-Gi-Oh! BAM" has been enjoyed by over 2 million registered players across the globe.
Konami will continue its commitment to delivering top-quality game content to players worldwide.
*1 The Yu-Gi-Oh! Card Game is a strategic card game based on both the manga Yu-Gi-Oh! (by Kazuki Takahashi), serialized in Shueisha Inc.'s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine from 1996, and the subsequent Yu-Gi-Oh! anime series.
