KONAMI is proud to announce that it is an official sponsor in Asia of the '09 World Baseball Classic™ to be held from March 5-23, 2009 in five countries, including Japan, the United States and Canada. This will be the second time for KONAMI to co-sponsor the event, the first time being in 2006.

The World Baseball Classic™ is an international tournament in which teams comprised of the best players in the world, including professional athletes that play for Major League Baseball (MLB) and Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB), compete for their home countries and territories to claim the trophy as the best team in the world. The Japanese team claimed the title in the first tournament, which was held in 2006.

As a co-sponsor of the World Baseball Classic™, KONAMI seeks to expand the international appeal of baseball and provide sports lovers around the world with dreams and excitement.
