KONAMI announced today that it will release METAL GEAR SOLID PEACE WALKER (MGS PW), for the PSP® (PlayStation® Portable) on Thursday, March 18, 2010 in Japan. This game is the latest in the METAL GEAR franchise by the series' creator, Hideo Kojima^*1 who both scripted and designed the game. Designed to convey a message of peace via its underlying antiwar and antinuclear weapons themes, the METAL GEAR series of video games has sold over 27.5 million copies worldwide (as of the end of September 2009) since its 1987 debut.

While remaining true to its stealth gaming roots, up to four people can team up and play MGS PW together by ad hoc connection that is the first trial for the series. This will provide enjoyable time for players to accomplish their mission by communicating with each other through team playing. And also, MGS PW cooperative play mode makes it easy for beginners to pick up the game. For example, as a role-sharing team, one player tows second player and letting second player concentrate on searching or other operations. KONAMI also plans to add a feature that will enable players to devise their own lyrics and lines for the game's characters using the vocal synthesis software service NetVOCALOID®.^*2
