KONAMI celebrated the completion of the latest installment in the METAL GEAR series,*1 METAL GEAR SOLID PEACE WALKER (a.k.a. MGS PW), at the AKASAKA BLITZ in Tokyo’s Minato ward on Wednesday, April 7th.
More than 350 industry insiders and reporters attended the event, underscoring the enormous anticipation surrounding the upcoming release of MGS PW this April 29th. Speaking on behalf of the guests, Sony Computer Entertainment Japan president, Hiroshi Kawano, said he expects the release of the globally acclaimed series’ latest title to spur the game industry toward even greater growth.
Saying that he was delighted that KONAMI could deliver such high-quality content to consumers, KonamiI Digital Entertainment Co., Ltd. president and representative director, Fumiaki Tanaka, thanked the fans who have supported the series over the years as well as everyone involved.
The series’ creator and director of MGS PW, Hideo Kojima talked about the game’s hard-hitting storyline and some of the exciting features that add new depth to the title. The KONAMI executive corporate officer and Kojima Productions Director then went on to introduce the game’s exciting cooperative play that lets players communicate with their “stealth buddies” as they team up to carry out a mission and also player can gather their comrades to build up their one and only troop and base.
Kojima also spoke about the various tie-ups involving the project, such as product placements among the game’s items and the sale of products featuring MGS PW characters.
