KONAMI has been working with the JPBPA to help nurture the further growth and development of baseball since 2005. Let's Play Catch brings former professional baseball players to venues across the country where they show both children and adults the basics of throwing and catching. Using a soft ball, the events provide a great introduction to the sport that gives everyone the chance to discover the sheer joy of baseball. Last year about 28,000 people attended Let's Play Catch events in Tokyo as well as Kanagawa, Aichi, and Oita prefectures.
Tokyo Midtown, the site for the first round of this year's Let's Play Catch program, is a Tokyo landmark drawing countless tourists from all over Japan and across the globe. It is also a bustling business complex that is home to KONAMI’s headquarters as well as a multitude of other companies and shops. Taking advantage of this prime location, KONAMI hopes to create an opportunity in which children, business people, shoppers, and international tourists alike can take part and enjoy the event.
After kicking off in Tokyo Midtown this August, KONAMI will take the show on the road for a total of six Let's Play Catch events.
KONAMI looks forward to continuing to support the JPBPA in its efforts to cultivate a growing interest in baseball that will enable the sport to thrive well into the future.
