KONAMI to Bring Asia’s Premier Soccer Championship,
the AFC Champions League, to Video Game Media

Konami Digital Entertainment Co., Ltd. is proud to announce that a contract has been signed with the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) to bring to video game media the AFC Champions League, the tournament that decides Asia’s greatest club team.

Konami greatly anticipates showing the AFC Champions League through the ultra-realistic graphics of the next title in the Winning Eleven series. The game, which will be released worldwide, will also feature a new mode in which users can take control of the various teams that compete in the AFC Champions League.

The Winning Eleven series holds a wide range of soccer licenses from around the world, notably that of Europe’s club team championship, the UEFA Champions League. As international soccer games, the series’ numerous titles have been awarded high acclaim not only in Japan but also worldwide, making the series the perfect opportunity to deliver the intense action of the competition to be Asia’s number one club to soccer fans everywhere.

Konami will continue to pursue the evolution of realistic soccer gameplay through the Winning Eleven series, providing soccer’s great excitement to customers worldwide and contributing to the development of international soccer culture.

Asian Football Confederation (AFC)
image The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) is an organization regulating Asian soccer as a whole, and one of the six continental associations that make up FIFA. It governs 46 member associations from countries and regions that represent over half of the world’s population. Established in 1954, the AFC is now headquartered in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from which it conducts its various duties, including regulating soccer across all of Asia, proposing new rules for the further development of the sport, promoting youth soccer, and organizing a range of tournament events.

Its participants are 32 of the strongest teams from Japan, China, South Korea, and elsewhere throughout the continent.
