Konami Digital Entertainment Co., Ltd.
Konami Digital Entertainment Co., Ltd. has added the next-generation game consoles "PlayStation®4" and "Xbox One" to the range of release platforms for "METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN" (below, "MGSV"), the latest title in the METAL GEAR series, to ensure that the game can be enjoyed by the broadest possible customer base.
"MGSV" will bring revolutionary photo-realistic graphics to its multiple release platforms through use of the FOX ENGINE, the next-generation game engine developed by Kojima Productions. In addition to graphics so finely detailed they could be mistaken for live film footage, the game will feature major Hollywood talent*1 in the lead role of Snake, using facial capture technology to recreate even the character's facial expressions with unparalleled realism.
The game will also utilize an "open-world" game system, offering players a high degree of freedom to explore vast and realistic landscapes featuring dynamic time and weather.
The METAL GEAR series pioneered the stealth game genre with the release of the original "METAL GEAR" in 1987, which encouraged players to avoid confrontations during their solo infiltration into enemy territory. The series is also known for its recurring anti-war and anti-nuclear armament themes. Its rich story and movie-quality action have attracted wide popularity both domestically and overseas, with over 35.2 million*2 games sold worldwide.
Konami will keep its sights set on even further evolution of the METAL GEAR series, to always deliver exciting new game experiences to its ever-growing customer base.
